Kayak care

Mocean Kayaks and Canoes, as designed, do not need much maintenance, but a little bit will go a long way and it will also increase the longevity of its appearance and even its structure.

A general rule of thumb is to always rinse your kayak after use. Even a quick spray with a hose will help with any saltwater or algae. Make sure you also clean the rudder lines, foot pedals and bailer. A rinse using freshwater is usually sufficient. Using a mild solvent like rubbing alcohol to get stains on an as needed basis works as well. 

It is also a good idea to inspect your deck hardware occasionally. Make sure all nuts are secure and there is not any unusual wear in the deck where the bolt inserts.

The bungee cord for holding extra gear is susceptible to UV damage and will age with time. If this happens, it is easily replaced and available on our website. 

The side carry handles as well as the bow and stern carry handles should be checked to make sure there is no damage, these too are easily replaced and available on our website.
